Club Matto didn't start as a company. Initially, it was an attempt at building a small collective of like-minded freelancers, mostly based out of Berlin. In fact, Club Matto is an Italian wordplay on a drink you can find everywhere in the city.

With time Club Matto evolved into a tiny company... a bottega!

What's a bottega? It's an Italian workshop where craftspeople make things by hand, with care, and intention. That's just like us: we build single-purpose, high-quality, thoughtful, and affordable digital products.

We are Luca and Stefano, two like-minded seasoned technologists (and yes we're both Italians 🤌) that worked together many times in the past 20 years.

We realised that we had a common vision for a wide range of interests we wanted to explore. Our most recent collaboration taught us we had many single-purpose tools in mind that didn't exist yet and that we couldn't build in a "traditional" VC-backed startup.

We're building Club Matto as the long marathon. It may sound cliché but it's true: we're looking to build a sustainable, self-funded, self-bootstrapped company.

Our work-in-progress portfolio reflects this goal: our product range is quite wide and, while on the surface that may look like lack of focus, it's a deliberate strategy to solve small, interesting, real-world problems well, no matter the field.

Beyond products, we're open to light consulting to keep ourselves self-funded. If you have a project that needs careful thinking, a tricky system that needs untangling, or a team that could use a seasoned pair of hands for a stretch we would like to hear about it, do reach out.
